Focus on the
World Championships!
Off we go into the new season - and it's lining up to be a great one. With the World Championships in Lenzerheide and Trondheim, we are looking forward to two exciting highlights. The rest of the competition calendar promises plenty of thrills and the Fischer Race Family will be doing everything in its power to race to the top again.
The ski jumpers will be the first to take off in Lillehammer (NOR) from November 22 to 24. The following weekend, the cross-country skiers and Nordic combined athletes will start the season in Ruka, Finland. The biathletes will also kick things off in in Finland at Kontiolahti Finally, on December 14 and 15, the long-distance athletes will compete in Bad Gastein.
After the first World Cup events, the Four Hills Tournament with its familiar stops and the Tour de Ski are on the program for the start of 2025. This year, the latter event will be held exclusively in Italy with stages in Toblach and Val di Fiemme.
Only a few competition weekends take place before the biathletes compete for World Championship medals in Lenzerheide from February 12 to 23. Lena Häcki-Gross from Switzerland is already looking forward to it: “It's the highlight for every athlete to be able to take part in the World Championships in their own country.”
Without taking a breath, the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, will immediately follow from February 26 to March 9, with athletes also vying for world championship honors in the disciplines of cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined.
“This means a lot to me,” says Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR), who is looking forward to the title competitions in his hometown. “It was my dream as a kid. It will be the best ten days of my life.”
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the World Championships, the traditional highlight of the season for the ski marathon scene is the Vasalauf on March 2nd.
It will be exciting who will finally win the globes. The women of the Nordic combined will be the first to honor their overall World Cup winner on March 16 in Oslo (NOR). One week later, their male colleagues and the cross-country skiers will follow at the World Cup final in Lahti, Finland, as well as the biathletes in Oslo.
On the last weekend of March, the ski jumpers' globe winners will be honored as part of their flying show in Planica, Slovenia, while the overall winners of the Ski Classic series will be determined at the “Grand Finale Summit 2 Senja” in Norway.
