Hard work pays off: Kerttu Niskanen
Together with her brother Iivo, Kerttu Niskanen forms the core of the Finnish cross-country skiing team. With numerous podium places at World Cups and major events, she has firmly established herself among the world's elite. Her little dog Martta accompanies her wherever she goes. The successful Finn prefers to compete in World Cups in Switzerland, as she showed again last weekend with her strong second place at the Davos World Cup.
When did you start skiing?
I got my first skis when I was two years old.
What was your biggest moment in your skiing career?
My first individual Olympic medal from Beijing.
What does it mean to you to be in the World Cup together with your brother?It’s special! Nice of course! One really special race for us was in Lenzerheide 2021, when we both won in the same day.
What are the top 3 things we should know about you?
- Even though I have always been better in distance skiing, my first World cup podium is from a city sprint!
